History of Karkardooma District Court

The Karkardooma Courts Complex officially started functioning on 15 May 1993. The complex was inaugurated by the then Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Justice G. C. Mittal.

The court complex was established because older district courts in Delhi, especially Tis Hazari Courts, were facing increasing case burden due to Delhi’s rapidly growing population. East Delhi and nearby regions required a separate judicial complex for faster and easier access to justice.

According to official information, the total area of the Karkardooma Courts Complex is around 60,200 square metres with a covered area of over 48,000 square metres.
